Holding On

Holding On - Formby, UK

Standing alone, tired and battered, holding on.

Milagros

Milagros - La Boqueria, Barcelona, Spain

While the tourists swarm around La Boqueria, Barcelona’s famous open air food market, a serene view of a side street captures something strange. Ghostly fragments and the moving remains of man as he passes the miracles (Milagros) shop.

De Bono & De Tree Peak Challenge

Doing what he does best Mr Bono Vox lends his weight and charisma to a Three Peak Challenge fundraiser to raise money for River of Life Uganda White Eagles Project. (A great charity supporting and educating children in Uganda and giving them the opportunity to fly high) With the help of “De Edge”, Bono writes a theme tune and shows us his personalised Three Peak training regime with the aim of inspiring the challenge team to fly high.

(This video is a collection of Bono’s bits from 4 longer charity videos so may make even less sense!)

MON$T£R MADN€$$ #12M

The MON$T£R is out of control!! The people of Manchester contribute their art and messages on a day of open expression.

Boxing Day Sales

Sick of the consumerist obsession for shopping? Boxing Day 2011 saw people queuing to find deals from 6am!!!?? There’s a lot that could be said about this but we tried to sum up the feeling in a simple film.

N30 – Public Sector Pension Strikes – We have had enough!!

On the 30th November 2011 thousands of people took to the streets of Manchester.

Many of us from the private sector marched in support of our public sector.

Le Placebo

Surreal genius or profound nonsense? Le Placebo is an intensely powerful portrayal of one mans struggle to survive in the global recession created by a dysfunctional, unfair and greed driven system. This hard hitting piece asks why?, what?, when?, who?, if? but more importantly asks nothing. Or does it?

Left Hanging Screen Test

We went out for the day with a camera, a rope and pair of cowboy boots and used it as an opportunity to try out various of angles and shots as proof-of-concept and as a location reccy for the short film ‘Left Hangin’. This video is an edited montage of ideas and so doesn’t really have any narrative as such but does have some interesting visual tit-bits and sets the mood for the film. (The film ‘Left Hangin’ is currently on the back burner but will hopefully see daylight at some point 🙂 )

Re: Sturgeon or a Tale of Turner’s Ego Soundtrack

From the mania of the bunker, our makeshift studio, cobbled together from half finished samples comes the original soundtrack for the short film Re: Sturgeon or a Tale of Turner’s Ego. A musical journey through Turner’s mind…

Redemption Soundtrack

Created as the soundtrack for a video promo for the graphic novel ‘Redemption.’

A little rough around the edges the soundtrack was created in an afternoon. (The day before submission day) We sat down in a kitchen with a laptop, a mic, a guitar, a Banjo and a sample of Mexican horns. What we created was a homage to the Western themed soundtrack with a Reggaeton twist.

Redemption Graphic Novel Trailer

A trailer for a graphic novel as part of an art degree…

OFF THE METER AND UNPLUGGED

Off the Meter and Unplugged is a country classic featuring the Phonix Monkey. (Another entry for AWTV) Recorded in a day in a living room with a video camera as a microphone, what this album lacks in production value, polish and competence it makes up for in it’s thought provoking commentary…

Deeply Roman Man
An original track about a deeply Roman mans struggle to fit into modern culture.

Grattalu
A rework of the bluegrass classic ‘My Saro Jane’. A homage to snowboarding down a fine blue slope in Tignes, France.

I'm Still In Love With You
A rework of the Steve Earle with the Del Mcourey band track of the same name with a culinary twist.

Willow Garden
An immoral version of the already immoral bluegrass classic ‘Willow Garden’.

Dominguez
An original composition about the man Dominguez.

25 Minutes To Go
A take on a well known Johnny Cash number spun to highlight the precision of Spanish cooking and vegetarianism.

THE PHONIX CRY

Phonix monkey’s audio entry to AWTV (a group of disturbed individuals contributing creative alternatives to TV) complete with a monkey barbershop quartet providing backing vocals.
